With current issues such as the Ebola outbreak, Boko Haram, and the #Bringbackourgirls campaign, the social and economic unrest in various countries, have left Africans to rely on social media to share information and engage in activism. In fact, social media seems to have, at times, replaced social action. In this ever-evolving context, we must question whether the use of social media is an effective way of telling these “African” stories? Is social change possible through social media?
