Open Call for Articles and Artwork – Center for Feminist Foreign Policy

Disrupted’ seeks to understand, challenge, and critique mainstream foreign policy through highlighting both experienced and emerging voices from across the globe.  Feminist foreign policy is a relatively new political theory and praxis, and while several governments have implemented its methodologies, the surface has only just been scratched. Whether you are an academic or policy researcher, practitioner, activist or student – we want to hear from you! The third edition of ‘Disrupted’ will focus on ‘Immigration: Migrants, Refugees, and Trafficking’.  We are particularly interested in articles which:

• Use feminist analysis to engage with and challenge global power structures
• Deconstruct the tendency toward Western-dominant foreign policy narratives
• Discuss how feminist foreign policy can push for change beyond how states are currently utilizing it
• Are led by and incorporate marginalised voices to interrupt mainstream foreign policy ideas
• Question assumptions about the objectivity of foreign policy
• Paint the local into a larger global picture
• Focus on contexts other than Europe & the USA

At this time, we are also seeking artwork, poetry, and other creative forms of expression to highlight and breakdown similar ideas as listed above. Get creative – we would love to see what a visual representation of a feminist foreign policy looks like to you!

HOW TO SUBMIT?

• For articles – please send an abstract (of approximately 300 words on the topic; the final article length should be between 800-1200 words) in the body of an email, along with full contact details, a short bio, and links to any previously published work if applicable.
• For creative submissions – please send a description of the proposed work in the body of an email or a draft as a PDF, with full contact details, a short bio, and links to any portfolios if applicable.
• Submissions should be sent to Editor-in-Chief, Katie Washington (disrupted (at) centreforffp.org) by Wednesday 31st October 2018, 5pm (London time).
• All will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their submission by Monday 5th November 2018, 5pm (London time)
• If submissions are accepted, deadline for first drafts must be sent by Friday 30th November 2018, 5pm (London time)
• Deadline for final drafts Monday 31st December 2018, 5pm (London time)
