My Voice Matters: Young Africans Tell their Entrepreneurial Stories

Name: Nanna Oghenereke Augusta

Location: Calabar, Cross River, Nigeria

Why did you start your business: I started Reqe Designs because fashion is my passion. My business allows me to do more for myself and the people around me. For me, being an entrepreneur is about bringing people-based solutions to the forefront. For me, it’s not about creating new ideas, but doing what has been done before in a more innovative way. I want to inspire others to develop themselves and their talents.

My company designs clothes that are simple, classy, and inexpensive. My company creates unique designs that are sold in Nigeria. I want to create job opportunities for local fabric makers and designers. I also want to create jobs for other young talented fashion designers. At this time, I need help with acquiring sewing machines, and setting up an office.

As a young African entrepreneur, my voice matters because fashion in Africa is a force to be reckoned with. I want my company, Reqe Designs, to take center stage whenever fashion in Nigeria is talked about. The Nigerian woman is conscious of her look and style and I think that my designs will help the Nigerian woman build her confidence.
