Young Innovators Competition – $10,000

This competition is open to entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 26 with an original tech idea or developed solution to one of its six listed global challenges. The ITU launched the Young Innovators Competition in a move to foster innovation among the next generation of social entrepreneurs working to change the world through technology.

ITU wants applications that can help solve unemployment, help increase food sources and reduce water wastage, facilitate access to public services for the elderly, improve natural disaster prediction and response, improve road safety for both drivers and pedestrians and protect sensitive personal data and inspire the creation of local digital content.

The winners will also be invited to attend the ITU Telecom World 2013 in Bangkok, receive mentoring from high-level industry representatives, get hands-on workshop training in entrepreneurial skills, meet and network with leading ICT players and Showcase their solutions at the conference’s dedicated pavilion on the showfloor.ITU has made entry so easy. Applicants can be already established startups but looking for funds to scale up their operations or anyone with a great idea can apply too.

The competition has put aside up to $10,000 in seed money to implement and bring to scale winning start-ups and up to $5,000 for winning concepts. Ten finalists will be selected by a committee of experts.
